About me

Ok, cutting the crap here. I’m Carl Byström. Residing not far from Stockholm, Sweden. Spending my days as a software engineer/usability pedant, developing and delivering awesome scalable software. My second home is ESN. Putting my skills to use there developing true real-time web platforms.

I am usually found researching and evangelizing new web related technologies. Trying to use this blog to share some of these findings when those 140 characters aren’t enough. The name ‘Pedantique’, chosen a bit at random, have some truth to it though :)

Usability and user experiences is something that lies close to my heart and interest me a lot. I’ve met few people who obsess over UI/UX more than I do. Habits like this die hard and I would argue that’s a good thing - always strive for improvement.

Interests beside oh-so-dear, work related things is music. Last.fm could probably tell you more about my musical preferences than I could do here. While listening can be relaxing, nothing beats practicing it. In particular, the guitar.

It’s true I almost can rant for hours on UX, products and under-executed ideas. But in return I can also do the opposite when I find stuff I truly like. Maybe it can appear very black and white to me. While it’s a good thing to be opinionated, it’s also important to see the shades of grey. Anyone can be a hater. This applies to everything from the idea to the technical things a product.
